A vets football team could be a good source for a comedy, Soldo. Would you agree?

Just seen it.

Fair play to the ref. Player got in his face and the ref stood his ground. Should have sent off the mouthy midget’s mates who grabbed his arms too.

A friend used to do reffing on a Sunday. From his changing area he heard one of the players say:"That fucking ref, I'm gonna give him a spanking".

Sure enough he walked up towards the ref who was ready for him and was give a clean right uppercur which left the bloke unconscius.

Refs should have a total exclusion zone of say 10 yards radius, after they have given a decision. No player can encroach upon that, unless invited by the referee. Immediate yellow card if they do.

It's a fucking disgrace that refs don't book whole groups of players for surrounding them. It'd not like he's going to change his mind, and an appalling model for children watching..

c wing... exactly... when I played I played mainly as a ball winning centre midfielder... I knew if I did nothave th eref on my side I'd be in trouble... it's amazing the amount of fouls you can get away with by not being in teh refs grill and apologise to the oppo' after you have just clattered him... I run our Vets team now and will back any red/yellow cards as long as they are not gobbing off to the ref... we've had 2 reds this season for our players calling the ref a cunt... FA fine... 3 match ban... and £50.00 club fine... no excuses.

Simple fucking rule, ala RU, players only speak to the ref when they are spoken too, and only the captain of either side can raise anything with the ref.

Good on the bald guy. Has he been suspended yet?

My 15 year old twins ref for extra money as well as play. Mostly it’s ok but a couple of times from the parents has been atrocious. One woman told me that if he was going to ref he should expect abuse even though I’d already told her she was abusing a 15 year old kid. This was after he’d been called a shit ref who had a shit game who made sure his team won by another parent. He’d never reffed either team before and was only doing it as a favour as he’d reffed the game before. Both clubs were charged by the league for failing to control their parents. Most of the wankers (parents not refs :-) )don’t even know the laws anyway. It amazes me the things people moan about that are in the laws of the game

At youth level parents shouldnt be allowed within 100m of the pitch. Should be kept in a roped off pen. Any noise from the pen .... turn a hose on them. Water the first time, liquid manure the second.

At professional level if a ref is getting abused get another card out. Understood the Ipswich player was booked, if the abuse carries on get the second yellow out. Would soon stop

I play sunday league, decent standard.......all the refs are atrocious

But then i wouldnt get out of bed on a sunday to get abused in the pissing rain for 90 mins for £25 so guess no one that could be a decent ref can be arsed either

Because that's what usually happens to refs who are serially incompetent. Or have you not been paying attention for the past ten years or so?

Re: Referee Darren Drysdale - Shocking Scenes Last Night
Flush from their season-long triumph in encouraging diving through the use of VAR, the FA are embarking on a new cunning campaign to encourage player dissent by banning a ref for doing what the fans want them to do.

Plus, now fully recovered from his terrifying death-threat ordeal of a week ago, that incompetent cunt Mike Dean has sneaked un-suspended back into action.

Something needs to be doing at youth level... fucking disgrace what some of those young refs have to go through... some parents are absolute and utter fucking scum.

Back in the day (80-00's) local refs were pretty decent... we had 2 or 3 that well... you would not want to get on the wrong side of that's for sure... one a well know character (Stan Cornwall) was as good a ref as I have ever seen in any league ... pro, amateur the lot... however he could not go up the ranks as when he gave a decision he stuck his arse out ... the FA don't like that... but he was better than any pro ref we have ever encountered... got on with him great

Best one I remember was a bloke getting sent off... the whole of his team holding him back by literally bundling him to the floor... after all sitting on him what seemed like an eternity... makes his way off the pitch... only to jump into his Mark 2 Ghia capri and drive it onto the football pitch and try and mow down the ref... good job there was a tree there that the ref could dodge behind... oh life ban if you are wondering.

Re: Referee Darren Drysdale - Shocking Scenes Last Night
As a teenager, I saw a ref get his jaw broken in a lower league game local to me. The away team were a load of yardies from Croydon, and after the player decked the ref, he had to be physically restrained by his team mates (he wanted to continue to fight the rest of the opposing team) and was then bundled back into the changing room and locked in there.

Me and the MATES I were with then goaded him from the outside through a small window because we could hear him smashing up the changing room. After he heard us taking the piss out of him, he was like a snarling dog at the window sticking his face out wanting to attack us next.

Anyway, the police turned up presumably to arrest him, and while they were going into the front of the clubhouse, he was being rushed out of the back of it via the fire escape into the back of a Ford transit and they quickly drove off.

We heard later that he was a player that already been banned and was playing under another players registration.

I do feel sorry for the refs of the lower leagues. It must be pretty unrewarding sometimes.
